Saudi Aramco briefly became the first non-American company to reach a $2 trillion market capitalization in December 2019.
The milestone occurred soon after Saudi Aramco’s initial public offering on the Saudi Stock Exchange, known as Tadawul. The listing valued the state-controlled oil company at approximately $1.9 trillion at its offer price, and its shares briefly rose enough to reach about $2 trillion.
Saudi Aramco is one of the world’s largest integrated energy companies. Its operations include crude-oil production, refining, chemicals, and petroleum distribution. Saudi Arabia remains its majority owner.
The company’s market value has moved substantially with oil prices, production expectations, and broader investor sentiment. The $2 trillion figure therefore describes a market valuation at a particular time, not a fixed measure of Saudi Aramco’s physical reserves or annual revenue.
