Nvidia became the first semiconductor manufacturer to surpass a US$3 trillion market capitalization in June 2024.
Its valuation surged as demand for graphics processors used in artificial-intelligence data centers exploded. Nvidia supplies the CUDA software ecosystem and advanced accelerators that power many large AI systems, making it central to the generative-AI boom.
Nvidia crossed US$3 trillion in intraday trading on June 5, 2024, briefly ranking above Apple by market value. A ten-for-one stock split took effect later that month, reducing the per-share price without changing the company’s total valuation.
The milestone is distinct from earlier US$3 trillion records set by Apple and Microsoft. Nvidia’s rise also made its chief executive, Jensen Huang, one of the world’s wealthiest technology leaders.
