Which sea lies between the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent?

The story behind the answer

The Arabian Sea lies between the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian subcontinent.

It is a marginal sea of the northern Indian Ocean. The Arabian Peninsula forms much of its western boundary, while India and Pakistan lie along its eastern and northern shores. Iran and Oman border connected waters to the northwest, including the Gulf of Oman, and the Gulf of Aden links the sea westward to the Red Sea through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait.

Covering roughly 3.86 million square kilometres, the Arabian Sea has long been a major maritime crossroads. Sailors used seasonal monsoon winds to travel between East Africa, Arabia, India, and Southeast Asia, supporting trade for thousands of years. The Indus River is its largest river inflow, and Socotra is among its notable islands.

A common mistake is choosing the Red Sea because it also borders the Arabian Peninsula. The Red Sea lies between Arabia and northeastern Africa; the Arabian Sea is farther east, between Arabia and South Asia.
