Which sea is located between the West Indies and Central America?
Answer
Caribbean Sea
Answer
Caribbean Sea
The sea located between the West Indies and Central America is the Caribbean Sea. It is a tropical sea of the North Atlantic, bordered by the Caribbean islands, Central America, and the northern coast of South America.
The West Indies form much of its northern and eastern boundary. The Greater Antilles—including Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico—lie to the north, while the Lesser Antilles curve along its eastern edge. Central American countries border it to the west, and Colombia and Venezuela border it to the south.
The Caribbean covers about 2.75 million square kilometers and contains the Cayman Trench, whose deepest point reaches roughly 7,686 meters. It is often confused with the Gulf of Mexico, which lies northwest of it, or the Sargasso Sea, an open-ocean region farther north without a conventional land boundary.
