Saudi Aramco began public trading in 2019 and is the world's largest oil company by market value.
The company, formally Saudi Arabian Oil Company, listed shares on the Saudi Stock Exchange in December 2019. Its initial public offering was one of the largest in financial history, valuing the business at roughly $1.9 trillion at the time of listing.
Saudi Aramco's importance comes from its enormous petroleum reserves, production capacity, refining operations, and global energy network. The company is majority-owned by the Saudi Arabian government, although a portion of its shares trades publicly.
The IPO date is sometimes confused with the company's founding history. Saudi Aramco traces its origins to an oil concession granted to Standard Oil of California in 1933, while the modern public listing occurred decades later.
