Which saint is known as 'Golden-Mouthed' for his eloquent preaching?

The story behind the answer

Saint John Chrysostom is known as “Golden-Mouthed” because of his remarkable eloquence as a preacher. The Greek name Chrysostomos means “golden-mouthed,” a title celebrating his powerful public speaking.

John gained his reputation in Antioch, where he preached for about twelve years after becoming a priest in 386. His sermons combined close explanations of biblical passages with direct teaching about personal conduct, charity, wealth, and social responsibility. Crowds admired his clarity, force, and ability to apply Scripture to ordinary life.

He later became Archbishop of Constantinople in 397. There, his criticism of clerical luxury and imperial behavior made him influential but controversial. Political and ecclesiastical opponents eventually secured his deposition and exile. He died in exile in 407, traditionally remembered for the words “Glory to God for all things.”

The other names in the options were also major Greek Church Fathers, which makes them plausible distractors. Basil the Great and Gregory of Nazianzus were fellow members of the Three Holy Hierarchs with John in Eastern Christian tradition, but only John carried the famous “Golden-Mouthed” epithet.
