Which Round Table Conference did Mahatma Gandhi attend as the Indian National Congress representative?

The story behind the answer

Mahatma Gandhi attended the Second Round Table Conference as the Indian National Congress representative.

The conference took place in London from September to December 1931. Gandhi attended after the Gandhi–Irwin Pact led to the suspension of civil disobedience and his release from prison. He represented the Congress alone, although many other delegates represented princely states, minority communities, and other political interests.

The discussions concerned India’s constitutional future, including federation, minority representation, and the distribution of political power. The conference ended without agreement, and Gandhi returned to India as civil disobedience resumed.

The First Round Table Conference was held in 1930 without Congress participation because many Congress leaders were imprisoned. The Third Conference took place in 1932, also without Gandhi’s participation.
