Which London court admitted Mahatma Gandhi to the bar in 1891?

The story behind the answer

The Inner Temple admitted Mahatma Gandhi to the bar in London in 1891.

Gandhi studied law in London and joined the Inner Temple, one of the four Inns of Court that traditionally educate and regulate barristers in England and Wales. He completed his legal studies and was called to the bar on 10 June 1891. He returned to India soon afterward and enrolled as an advocate.

The four Inns are the Inner Temple, Middle Temple, Lincoln’s Inn, and Gray’s Inn. Because all four are linked with barrister training, they are frequently confused in general biographies. Gandhi’s affiliation was specifically with the Inner Temple.

His early legal practice in India was not immediately successful. A later opportunity to represent a client in South Africa in 1893 became the turning point that launched his public career and exposed him to racial discrimination and colonial politics.
