The Rolls-Royce Phantom VII was launched in 2003 as the marque’s first production car under BMW ownership.
BMW acquired the rights to the Rolls-Royce name and badge for cars, while Volkswagen acquired Bentley and the former Rolls-Royce factory and engineering assets. BMW subsequently established Rolls-Royce Motor Cars at Goodwood in England.
The Phantom VII was unveiled in 2003 and became the foundation of the modern Rolls-Royce range. It combined a hand-finished interior with a large aluminium spaceframe and a 6.75-litre V12 engine. Its tall grille, rear-hinged coach doors and upright proportions established the visual identity of the revived marque.
The Phantom VII remained in production until 2017, when the Phantom VIII succeeded it. The model is distinct from the Silver Seraph, which had been produced before BMW’s new Rolls-Royce operation began.
