The Rolls-Royce Sweptail was unveiled in 2017 as a one-off coachbuilt coupé.
Commissioned from Rolls-Royce by an individual client, Sweptail was developed over several years and presented at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. Its design drew inspiration from the swept-tail Rolls-Royce models of the 1920s and 1930s, as well as from large luxury yachts and private aircraft.
The car was based on the Phantom VII platform but received unique bodywork and a bespoke interior. Its long, tapering rear deck and glass roof made it visually distinct from series-production Rolls-Royce models such as the Wraith.
Sweptail is often confused with Boat Tail, another highly exclusive coachbuilt Rolls-Royce. Boat Tail followed later and was produced for three clients, whereas Sweptail was commissioned as a single individual car.
