Which Rolls-Royce car became the first production convertible in the modern BMW era?

The story behind the answer

The Rolls-Royce Dawn became the first production convertible in the modern BMW era.

Rolls-Royce introduced the Dawn in 2015 as a four-seat convertible based on the Wraith. It used a fabric roof that could be lowered electrically, allowing the car to retain a quiet and luxurious character while offering open-air driving.

The Dawn shared some engineering with the Wraith but received extensive changes to its body and suspension. Rolls-Royce described it as a distinct model rather than simply a Wraith with its roof removed. Its name revived the historical Silver Dawn name used by the company after the Second World War.

The earlier Phantom Drophead Coupé was also a modern Rolls-Royce convertible, but it was introduced before the Dawn and belonged to the Phantom family. The Dawn therefore holds the relevant position among the later, BMW-era range rather than among all Rolls-Royce convertibles ever made.
