Which role did Beyoncé voice in the 2019 film The Lion King?

The story behind the answer

Beyoncé voiced Nala in the 2019 film The Lion King.

The film is a computer-animated remake of Disney’s 1994 traditionally animated feature. Nala is a lioness who is Simba’s childhood friend and later becomes his partner and queen. Beyoncé’s performance appears alongside Donald Glover as Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, and James Earl Jones reprising the voice of Mufasa.

Beyoncé also contributed to the film’s soundtrack, including the original song “Spirit.” The role is separate from her live-action acting parts in films such as Dreamgirls and Austin Powers in Goldmember. Another possible source of confusion is Kiara, Simba and Nala’s daughter in The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride; Kiara is not the character Beyoncé voiced in the 2019 remake.
