Jay-Z appears with Beyoncé on “Crazy in Love,” the lead single from her 2003 debut album, Dangerously in Love.
The song was produced by Rich Harrison and Beyoncé, with additional rap vocals written and performed by Jay-Z. Its energetic horn sample, drawn from the Chi-Lites’ “Are You My Woman (Tell Me),” became one of the track’s defining musical features.
“Crazy in Love” was a major commercial breakthrough. It reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped charts in several other countries. The song also won two Grammy Awards in 2004, including Best R&B Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé later married in 2008 and continued collaborating on songs and performances. Their joint album Everything Is Love was released in 2018 under the name The Carters, but that later project is separate from Beyoncé’s first solo hit.
