Which rocket launched Perseverance from Earth in 2020?

The story behind the answer

Perseverance was launched from Earth in 2020 by an Atlas V 541 rocket.

The United Launch Alliance Atlas V 541 lifted the Mars 2020 spacecraft from Space Launch Complex 41 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on July 30, 2020, at 11:50 UTC. The vehicle’s designation describes its configuration: a five-meter payload fairing, four strap-on solid rocket boosters, and a single-engine Centaur upper stage.

The rocket placed the spacecraft on an interplanetary trajectory toward Mars. Perseverance then spent about seven months in transit before entering the Martian atmosphere and landing in Jezero crater on February 18, 2021.

The other options are rockets associated with different missions or launch systems. Long March 5 is a Chinese heavy-lift launcher, Falcon Heavy is a SpaceX vehicle, and Delta IV Heavy is another American heavy-lift rocket. None launched Perseverance. Atlas V 541 also launched Curiosity in 2011, which can make the two Mars rover launches easy to confuse.
