Netherrealm is home to the undead wraith Noob Saibot in Mortal Kombat.

Noob Saibot is the resurrected form of Bi-Han, the original Sub-Zero. After Bi-Han’s death, he is transformed into a shadowy wraith associated with the Netherrealm, the series’ domain of demons, tortured souls and dark supernatural forces.

The character’s name is derived from the surnames of Mortal Kombat creators Ed Boon and John Tobias spelled backward. Noob Saibot first appeared as a hidden character in Mortal Kombat II, although his full identity and backstory were developed later.

Netherrealm should not be confused with Outworld, which is ruled by figures such as Shao Kahn, or Earthrealm, the home of many human heroes. Noob Saibot’s Netherrealm identity is tied directly to his transformation after death.
