The Amazing Race has won the most Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.
The category was introduced at the Primetime Emmys in 2003, and The Amazing Race dominated its early years. It won seven consecutive awards from 2003 through 2009, establishing a long-running reputation as the category’s benchmark competition series.
Top Chef ended that streak in 2010, but The Amazing Race continued to collect victories later. The program has 10 wins in the category, more than any other series. RuPaul’s Drag Race is the nearest option listed, with five wins according to the category’s cumulative totals.
The award recognizes the program’s producers rather than simply its host or contestants. The series follows teams racing around the world through travel legs, roadblocks, detours, and local challenges. Its international scale and repeatable competition format helped it remain a consistent Emmy contender. Survivor has also been nominated and won, but its total is lower.
