Which real-world revolutionary leader appears as a major character in Assassin’s Creed Unity?
Answer
Maximilien Robespierre
Answer
Maximilien Robespierre
Maximilien Robespierre appears as a major character in Assassin’s Creed Unity.
Unity is set in Paris during the French Revolution, beginning in 1789. Robespierre, a prominent revolutionary politician and member of the Committee of Public Safety, is incorporated into the game’s fictional conflict between Assassins and Templars. The protagonist Arno Dorian encounters historical figures while investigating conspiracies and political upheaval.
Robespierre became one of the leading figures of the Reign of Terror, a period of intense political repression during the Revolution. He was overthrown and executed by guillotine in July 1794. Unity uses these real events as a setting while inventing Arno’s personal story and many of the secret operations around it.
Napoleon Bonaparte also appears in the game and is a plausible alternative, but his role is different. Louis XVI and Jean-Paul Marat are also associated with the Revolution, yet Robespierre is the principal revolutionary leader asked about here.
