Which real-world monument serves as the headquarters of the Assassins in Assassin's Creed Mirage?

The story behind the answer

Alamut Castle serves as the headquarters of the Assassins in Assassin's Creed Mirage.

Mirage follows Basim Ibn Ishaq as he leaves ninth-century Baghdad and trains with the Hidden Ones. The mountain fortress of Alamut is the order's headquarters in the game, where Basim receives instruction and becomes more deeply involved in the conflict with the Order.

The historical Alamut was a fortress in present-day Iran associated with Hasan-i Sabbah and the Nizari Ismaili state. Assassin's Creed Mirage uses that historical association while presenting its own fictionalized version of the Hidden Ones and their early organization.

The fortress should not be confused with Baghdad's Round City or the game's House of Wisdom, both important Baghdad locations. Mirage was released in 2023 and deliberately returns to a more focused stealth-and-assassination structure than several expansive RPG entries.
