Rome is the main real-world setting of Assassin's Creed Brotherhood.
The 2010 game continues the story of Ezio Auditore da Firenze after Assassin's Creed II. Ezio travels to Rome to oppose the Borgia family, whose power is concentrated in the Papal States. Much of the campaign takes place across the city and its surrounding countryside, with the Colosseum and Castel Sant'Angelo among the recognizable locations.
Brotherhood introduced systems for recruiting and training new Assassins. Ezio can send recruits on missions, call them for assistance, and help rebuild parts of Rome by restoring shops and landmarks. The game also added a competitive multiplayer mode in which players hunted one another.
Rome is easy to confuse with other Italian settings in the series. Assassin's Creed II moves among Florence, Venice, and other locations, while Revelations is centered on Constantinople. Brotherhood's citywide reconstruction and Borgia storyline are specifically tied to Rome.
