Which real author co-wrote "Through the Gates of the Silver Key" with Lovecraft?

The story behind the answer

E. Hoffmann Price co-wrote “Through the Gates of the Silver Key” with H. P. Lovecraft.

Price was an American pulp writer whose work included fantasy and popular fiction. He met Lovecraft in New Orleans in 1932, and their friendship led to correspondence and several proposed collaborations. “Through the Gates of the Silver Key” was the major collaboration that reached publication.

Price first drafted roughly 6,000 words in August 1932 after suggesting a sequel to “The Silver Key.” Lovecraft substantially reworked the material in April 1933, expanding it to about 14,000 words. The story ultimately appeared under both authors’ names in the July 1934 issue of Weird Tales.

The story continues Randolph Carter’s adventures after his disappearance and explores identity, multiple bodies, other dimensions, and cosmic transformation. A common mix-up is choosing Lovecraft’s other fellow pulp writers, such as Robert E. Howard or Clark Ashton Smith, neither of whom co-wrote this story.
