Jay-Z features on Beyoncé’s debut solo single “Crazy in Love.”
Released in 2003, “Crazy in Love” was the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. The song was produced by Rich Harrison and Beyoncé, with a prominent horn sample based on the Chi-Lites’ 1970 song “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So).”
Jay-Z contributes a rap verse, and the collaboration became one of the defining musical pairings of the early 2000s. The two artists later married in 2008 and continued collaborating on songs including “Upgrade U,” “Drunk in Love,” and “Family Feud.”
The track reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won two Grammy Awards in 2004. It is sometimes described as Beyoncé’s first solo single, although she had already recorded and performed extensively as a member of Destiny’s Child.
