Jay-Z appears with Beyoncé on “Crazy in Love.”
Released in 2003, the song was the lead single from Beyoncé’s debut solo album, Dangerously in Love. Jay-Z contributes a rap verse, while Beyoncé delivers the main vocal performance over a prominent horn sample derived from the Chi-Lites’ “Are You My Woman (Tell Me So).”
“Crazy in Love” became Beyoncé’s first solo number-one single on the Billboard Hot 100. It also reached the top position in several other countries and is frequently cited as one of the defining pop and R&B singles of the 2000s.
The recording was an early public collaboration between Beyoncé and Jay-Z, whose relationship later became central to both artists’ public biographies. The song is not a Destiny’s Child single, although Beyoncé was still associated with the group when it was released.
