Frankel remained unbeaten in all 14 of his starts, including the 2,000 Guineas and Champion Stakes.
Bred by Juddmonte Farms and trained by Henry Cecil, Frankel won his first race in August 2010. He quickly became known for his exceptional acceleration and frequently dominated elite fields by wide margins.
Frankel won the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket in 2011, then added major victories including the Sussex Stakes, Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and International Stakes. His final race was the Champion Stakes at Ascot in October 2012, where he defeated Cirrus des Aigles.
Frankel never raced outside Britain and never competed in the Epsom Derby. That omission sometimes causes confusion, because he was widely regarded as the best horse of his generation despite not contesting the Derby distance. He retired unbeaten and became a highly influential breeding stallion.
