Which racehorse became the first to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic twice?

The story behind the answer

Tiznow became the first racehorse to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic twice.

The American colt won the race in consecutive years, taking the 2000 Classic at Churchill Downs and the 2001 Classic at Belmont Park. He was trained by Jay Robbins and ridden by Chris McCarron in both victories.

His 2000 win came against a field that included European champion Giant’s Causeway. In 2001, Tiznow defeated Sakhee in a close finish and became the first two-time winner of the event.

The achievement is distinct from winning the inaugural Classic, which was captured by Wild Again in 1984. Tiznow’s record concerns multiple victories in the same Breeders’ Cup championship race.
