The Horde leader Thrall belongs to the orc race. Born with the name Go’el, Thrall is the son of Durotan, former chieftain of the Frostwolf Clan, and became one of the most important figures in Warcraft history.
Thrall was separated from his people as a child and raised by the human commander Aedelas Blackmoore, who trained him as a gladiator. After escaping captivity, Thrall reunited with the orcs, learned the traditions of the Frostwolf Clan, and embraced shamanism. He eventually became Warchief of the Horde after Orgrim Doomhammer’s death.
As Warchief, Thrall led the orcs to Kalimdor and helped establish Orgrimmar. He also expanded the Horde by welcoming allies such as the Darkspear trolls and tauren. His leadership emphasized the orcs’ older spiritual traditions rather than the demonic influence that had once corrupted them.
Thrall is sometimes mistaken for a troll or tauren because both races are prominent Horde members. However, his green skin, tusks, Frostwolf heritage, and family lineage clearly identify him as an orc.
