The new playable race paired with the Evoker class in Dragonflight was Dracthyr.
Dragonflight, released on November 28, 2022, introduced both the Dracthyr race and the Evoker class as its signature race-class combination. Dracthyr are dragonkin created by Neltharion, later known as Deathwing, using the powers of all five dragonflights. Their story begins in the Forbidden Reach, where they awaken after thousands of years in stasis.
Evokers wield draconic magic rather than representing a traditional Warcraft class archetype. At launch, they had Devastation for ranged damage and Preservation for healing; Augmentation was added later. Dracthyr also function as a hero class, beginning at level 58 in their own starting experience.
A common mix-up is reversing the relationship: Dracthyr is the race, while Evoker is the class. At Dragonflight’s launch, Evoker was exclusive to Dracthyr, although Blizzard indicated that additional class options might eventually be considered for the race.
