Which Quentin Tarantino film was his directorial debut?
Answer
Reservoir Dogs
Answer
Reservoir Dogs
Reservoir Dogs was Quentin Tarantino’s directorial debut.
Released in 1992, the crime film follows a group of color-coded criminals after a diamond robbery goes disastrously wrong. Tarantino wrote the screenplay and played Mr. Brown, while Harvey Keitel’s support helped the project attract financing and wider attention. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and established Tarantino as a distinctive new filmmaker.
Reservoir Dogs was not Tarantino’s first professional screenplay. Before directing it, he wrote scripts including True Romance and the screenplay that became Natural Born Killers, and he co-wrote From Dusk Till Dawn with Robert Rodriguez directing. His first feature as director, however, was Reservoir Dogs.
Pulp Fiction was his second feature and brought even greater international recognition, but it was not his debut. True Romance is another frequent mix-up: Tarantino wrote that film, while Tony Scott directed it in 1993.
