Which Queen album was released in 1976 and includes “Somebody to Love”?

The story behind the answer

Queen’s 1976 album A Day at the Races includes “Somebody to Love.”

The album was Queen’s fifth studio release and followed A Night at the Opera, the record that had brought the band worldwide attention through “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Its title was taken from a Marx Brothers film, continuing the cinematic naming pattern of the previous album.

“Somebody to Love,” written by Freddie Mercury, is one of the album’s defining tracks. Its gospel-influenced vocal arrangement created the impression of a large choir, although the layered parts were performed by Mercury, Brian May, and Roger Taylor. The song became a major international hit.

A Day at the Races reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. It is sometimes confused with News of the World because both albums contain major Queen anthems and were released in the 1970s, but News of the World followed in 1977.
