Which punk band's 1978 album 'Give 'Em Enough Rope' was its first US charting album?

The story behind the answer

The Clash's 1978 album Give 'Em Enough Rope was the band's first US-charting album. It was also the first Clash album released in the United States, although the American edition of the earlier self-titled album followed later.

Released on 10 November 1978, the record was the Clash's second studio album and their first produced by American producer Sandy Pearlman. It reached number 128 on the Billboard 200, giving the band its first appearance on the main US albums chart. In the United Kingdom, it performed far better, peaking at number two.

The album is sometimes confused with The Clash, whose original UK release came out in 1977. That debut was not initially issued in the United States, helping Give 'Em Enough Rope become the band's first US release and first US chart entry. The album also marked drummer Topper Headon's first appearance with the group.

Its songs include “Tommy Gun,” “English Civil War,” “Stay Free,” and “Guns on the Roof.” It was followed by London Calling in 1979, the album that greatly expanded the Clash's international audience.
