Which pseudonymous novel introduced J.K. Rowling’s detective Cormoran Strike?

The story behind the answer

The Cuckoo’s Calling introduced J.K. Rowling’s detective Cormoran Strike.

The novel was published in 2013 under the name Robert Galbraith. Cormoran Strike is a private investigator and former Royal Military Police investigator who examines the death of model Lula Landry. Robin Ellacott becomes his temporary secretary and then an important investigative partner.

The book was initially received as the work of an unknown debut novelist. Rowling’s authorship was revealed later in 2013, after a linguistic analysis and investigation connected the pseudonym to her. The revelation increased attention for the novel and its sequels.

The Cuckoo’s Calling is the first entry in a continuing series. Later books include The Silkworm, Career of Evil, Lethal White, Troubled Blood, The Ink Black Heart, and The Running Grave.
