Which production won Best Musical at the 2026 Tony Awards?

Schmigadoon! won Best Musical at the 2026 Tony Awards.

The musical is based on the Apple TV+ comedy series Schmigadoon!, created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. Its story playfully draws on the conventions of classic Broadway musicals, particularly the idealized small-town settings and romantic plots associated with mid-century shows.

At the 79th Tony Awards, Schmigadoon! also won Best Book of a Musical and Best Original Score, both credited to Cinco Paul. It additionally received the award for Best Orchestrations, shared by Doug Besterman and Mike Morris.

The title can be confused with The Lost Boys, another heavily nominated musical from the same season. The Lost Boys won several performance and design awards, but Schmigadoon! took the ceremony's top musical prize. The 2026 ceremony recognized Broadway productions from the 2025–26 season.
