Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) received no Tony Awards despite eight nominations in 2026.

The musical was nominated in categories including Best Musical, acting, direction, scenic design, choreography, and orchestrations. Its nominations reflected strong recognition across both performers and creative departments, even though it did not ultimately win a competitive award.

Two Strangers competed against productions such as Schmigadoon!, The Lost Boys, Titaníque, and Ragtime during a season with several heavily nominated musicals. The show’s title refers to the relationship at the center of its story and is typically written with the parenthetical subtitle included.
