Which production format was Spider-Man: Brand New Day the first film to be specifically shot for?

The story behind the answer

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was the first film specifically shot for the ScreenX format.

ScreenX expands the image from the main cinema screen onto side walls, creating a wider field of view. Brand New Day was made under the “Shot for ScreenX” program, with CJ 4DPlex's team coming to the set to capture footage intended for those side screens.

The movie was also released in other premium formats, including RealD 3D, D-Box, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and IMAX in selected markets. Those formats should not be confused with the specific production distinction attached to ScreenX.

The film was shot mainly in a 2.39:1 aspect ratio, with selected sequences designed for IMAX. ScreenX was different because particular footage was captured specifically for the format rather than simply adapted for a different theater presentation.
