Which production company is listed with Universal Television for SVU?

Wolf Entertainment is the production company listed with Universal Television for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

The company was founded by television producer Dick Wolf in 1988, originally under the name Wolf Films. Its association with the Law & Order franchise began before SVU premiered on NBC on September 20, 1999. The company later expanded into other major television franchises, including Chicago and FBI.

A common mix-up is confusing the production company with the broadcaster or distributor. NBC airs SVU, while Universal Television is the studio partner and Wolf Entertainment is Dick Wolf’s production company. Wolf Entertainment adopted its current name in 2019, so older references and credits may use Wolf Films instead.

SVU was the first Law & Order spin-off and follows the NYPD’s Special Victims Unit as it investigates sex-related crimes and works with Manhattan prosecutors.
