Shaun Pulfrey pitched the Tangle Teezer on the British television programme Dragons' Den.
Pulfrey developed the hairbrush after working as a hair colourist and observing how difficult it could be to remove tangles without causing discomfort or damage. The Tangle Teezer used flexible teeth arranged to move through tangled hair, creating a distinctive product in the crowded hair-care market.
His appearance on Dragons' Den became notable because the Dragons did not invest in the proposal. Despite that outcome, the product later achieved substantial commercial success and became an internationally recognised hairbrush brand.
The product is sometimes confused with powered styling tools, including hair dryers and straighteners. Tangle Teezer is a manually used detangling brush, and its central design purpose is removing knots rather than straightening or curling hair.
