Tangle Teezer was the product inventor Shaun Pulfrey pitched on the British programme Dragon's Den.
Pulfrey presented his detangling hairbrush design on the programme in 2007. The brush used a distinctive arrangement of flexible teeth intended to reduce pulling and breakage while working through tangled hair.
The pitch did not produce a Dragon investment, but the product later became a significant commercial success. Tangle Teezer was developed into an international brand with several brush designs for different hair types and uses.
This story is a useful reminder that a televised rejection does not determine a product’s eventual market performance. The company’s later growth came through product development, branding and retail distribution rather than a deal made in the Den.
