Evan Davis took over as presenter of Dragons' Den from series 3 after Adrian Chiles.
Davis became the programme's presenter after Chiles hosted the first two series. His role was to introduce the entrepreneurs and help viewers follow the business stories, while the Dragons questioned contestants and decided whether to invest.
The change happened early in the show's British run, but Davis went on to become one of its most recognisable presenters. He is also known for BBC journalism and for presenting Newsnight, giving him a background in explaining complex subjects clearly to a general audience.
A common mix-up is to identify Davis as the original presenter simply because he hosted the programme for so many years. The chronology is different: Adrian Chiles launched the British series, and Davis began presenting from the third series.
