Evan Davis succeeded Adrian Chiles as host of the British television series Dragons' Den.
Davis is a British journalist, broadcaster and economist who became the programme's presenter in 2007. He conducts the introductions and links between pitches, while the dragons themselves question entrepreneurs and negotiate possible investments. His calm interviewing style became part of the programme's established presentation.
Adrian Chiles presented the series when it launched in 2005. Davis then took over, making the hosting change separate from changes to the investment panel. The dragons are the on-screen investors, whereas the presenter manages the programme's narrative and explains what happens around the pitches.
This fact is sometimes confused with the identities of BBC presenters who have hosted other business or current-affairs programmes. Davis is also known for presenting Newsnight and other BBC output, but his role on Dragons' Den is specifically as the host who followed Chiles. He is not one of the investors.
