Evan Davis replaced Adrian Chiles as host of the BBC series Dragons' Den.
Davis took over the presenting role after Chiles hosted the programme's first eight series. He brought a background in economics and journalism to the show, making him particularly well suited to explaining business plans, ownership percentages and investment negotiations to viewers.
Davis is also known for presenting BBC economics and current-affairs programming, including Newsnight. His association with Dragons' Den became especially strong because he remained connected with the programme for many years, although the series has had other presenters across its history.
The host and the Dragons perform different jobs. Davis guides the episode and asks clarifying questions, while the panel members decide whether they want to invest. A deal shown on television still depends on due diligence before it becomes a completed business transaction.
