Evan Davis hosted the first UK series of BBC's Dragon's Den in 2005.
Davis is an economist, journalist and broadcaster who became well known through BBC news and current-affairs programming. His presentation helped establish the show's format for British viewers: entrepreneurs pitch businesses, answer questions and negotiate with the investors known as Dragons.
The programme began on BBC Two and was adapted from the Japanese format Money Tigers. Davis remained associated with the early British run before later presenting other BBC programmes, including Newsnight and The Bottom Line. A common mix-up is to identify one of the Dragons as the host; the investors are participants in the pitches, not the programme's presenter.
