Evan Davis has hosted the British television show Dragon's Den since its first series in 2005.
Davis is an economist, journalist and broadcaster who joined the programme at its launch. His role is to introduce each entrepreneur, explain the proposed deal and manage the questioning between the entrepreneurs and the investors.
The presenter does not decide whether a deal happens. That decision belongs to the Dragons, who assess the business, its valuation and the amount of equity offered. This differs from the presenter’s role on some other business-investment programmes.
Davis has also presented BBC current-affairs and economics programmes, including Newsnight and The Bottom Line. The British series is adapted from the Japanese format Money Tigers and became one of the BBC’s best-known factual entertainment programmes.
