Evan Davis has hosted the BBC business show Dragon's Den since its first episode in 2005.
Davis is a British journalist, broadcaster and economist. Before joining Dragon's Den, he was best known for presenting business and economics coverage on BBC television and radio, including the BBC Radio 4 programme Today. His analytical style helped make the entrepreneurs' financial claims accessible to viewers.
The programme began on BBC Two in 2005, adapting the Japanese format Money Tigers. Davis presents the pitches and keeps the discussion moving, while the investors decide whether to offer their own money. The investors are often called the Dragons, but Davis is the presenter rather than an investor.
A common mix-up is confusing Davis with the show's changing investor panel. Several Dragons have left or joined over the years, but the presenter’s role is separate from the panel’s investment decisions.
