Which politician insists that Anakin be given the title of Jedi master before he is ready?

Chancellor Palpatine is the politician who pushes for Anakin Skywalker to receive a place on the Jedi High Council, despite Anakin not yet being ready for the rank of Jedi Master.

In Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, Palpatine appoints Anakin as his personal representative on the Council. The Jedi accept Anakin’s appointment but deliberately deny him the title of Master, creating the famous exchange: “You are on this Council, but we do not grant you the rank of Master.”

The move is politically calculated. Palpatine wants Anakin inside the Council as his ally and representative, while the Jedi distrust the Chancellor’s interference. Anakin interprets the denial as a personal insult, and his anger exposes the impatience and pride that Palpatine later exploits.

A common mix-up is confusing Palpatine’s role with Mace Windu’s. Windu is the Jedi who formally tells Anakin he will not be made a Master; Palpatine is the politician who pressures the Jedi by placing Anakin on the Council. Anakin remains a Jedi Knight at this point in the story.
