Squirtle’s Water Gun helps water plants in Pokémon Pokopia.
One of Pokopia’s distinctive mechanics is that Ditto can learn moves from Pokémon it befriends. These moves are used as practical tools for restoring the environment rather than primarily for traditional turn-based battles.
Squirtle’s Water Gun is the clearest example. Ditto can use the water-producing move to refresh thirsty plants and support the growth of vegetation. This fits Squirtle’s Water type and turns a familiar battle move into a gardening ability.
The game also gives other Pokémon-related moves environmental functions. Bulbasaur’s Leafage can add greenery, while abilities associated with cutting or striking can help remove obstacles and gather materials. Squirtle’s role is therefore specifically connected with hydration and plant care, not simply with appearing as a water Pokémon.
