Pokémon Pokopia is set in a post-apocalyptic version of the Kanto region.
Kanto is the original Pokémon region introduced in Pokémon Red and Green in Japan and Pokémon Red and Blue internationally. In Pokopia, it is presented in a very different condition: humans have disappeared, the landscape has become inhospitable, and Pokémon habitats need to be restored.
This setting gives the game a recognizable foundation while allowing it to tell a new story. The player encounters familiar species and locations in a world that has been abandoned and must be rebuilt. The central mystery concerns what happened to the humans and Pokémon who once lived there.
Pokopia’s Kanto should not be mistaken for a normal recreation of the first games’ journey. It is a transformed, post-apocalyptic interpretation used as the setting for a life-simulation adventure.
