Tangrowth is the only resident when Ditto awakens in Pokémon Pokopia.
Ditto begins the adventure in the Withered Wasteland, a world where humans and nearly all Pokémon have disappeared. Tangrowth lives there alone and becomes the first major companion encountered by the player.
The character is later known as Professor Tangrowth. After meeting Ditto, Tangrowth explains the condition of the wasteland and helps begin the work of restoring Pokémon habitats. As the environment improves, more Pokémon arrive and participate in rebuilding the settlement.
Tangrowth’s role is easy to confuse with that of the player character. Ditto is the protagonist, while Tangrowth is the isolated resident who guides the opening of the story. The two Pokémon form the game’s initial partnership.
