Tangrowth is the only resident of Pokémon Pokopia’s starting wasteland.
When Ditto awakens after a long slumber, the world has withered and humans are gone. Tangrowth remains there alone, making it the first established resident connected with the game's desolate opening setting.
This detail helps explain the game's central objective. Rather than beginning in a thriving town, the player starts in a damaged environment and gradually rebuilds it into a cozy home for Pokémon. Gathering materials, growing vegetables, and constructing furniture all contribute to that restoration.
Tangrowth should not be confused with the protagonist. Ditto is the playable character, while Tangrowth is a non-player Pokémon encountered in the opening world. As more Pokémon are befriended and attracted, the once-empty landscape becomes a populated community.
