Tangrowth is the only resident Ditto finds in Pokémon Pokopia’s wasteland.
Ditto awakens in the Withered Wasteland after a long slumber and discovers that the world has withered. Humans and other Pokémon are gone, leaving Tangrowth alone in the devastated environment. This meeting establishes the game’s central rebuilding premise.
Tangrowth later becomes known as Professor Tangrowth. The character helps frame the mystery of what happened to the vanished inhabitants, although Professor Tangrowth does not know where they went. Ditto then begins restoring the landscape and creating a comfortable habitat where Pokémon can live together again.
Tangrowth is sometimes mistaken for a generic tree Pokémon because of its vine-covered appearance. However, the game specifically identifies this character as Tangrowth. Other Pokémon appear as Ditto explores and restores the world, but they are not the solitary resident present at the beginning of the story.
