Which Pokémon has the most evolutions?

The story behind the answer

Eevee has the most possible evolutions of any Pokémon, with eight distinct evolutionary forms. These forms are commonly called Eeveelutions.

Eevee’s unusual genetic structure allows it to evolve in different ways depending on the conditions around it. Its first three evolutions appeared in Pokémon Red and Green: Vaporeon, a Water type; Jolteon, an Electric type; and Flareon, a Fire type. Later games added Espeon and Umbreon, followed by Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.

The evolution method varies. Some forms require evolutionary stones, while others depend on friendship, time of day, a location, or a specific move. Sylveon, for example, requires high affection and a Fairy-type move in games using the relevant mechanics.

Eevee is sometimes confused with Pokémon that have branched evolution lines, such as Tyrogue or Slowpoke. Those Pokémon can evolve in multiple directions, but neither has as many recognized final evolutionary forms. Eevee remains unique because all eight branches are officially associated with its evolution family.
