Answer
Oleg Salenko
Answer
Oleg Salenko
Oleg Salenko scored five goals in one match at the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
The Russian striker achieved the feat against Cameroon in Russia’s final group match on 28 June 1994 at Stanford Stadium in California. Russia won 6–1, with Salenko scoring five times and Dmitri Radchenko adding the other goal.
Salenko’s total remains the record for most goals by one player in a single FIFA World Cup match. He scored from open play and penalties during the performance, which also made him the tournament’s joint top scorer with six goals overall.
Russia did not advance to the knockout stage because of its earlier results. Cameroon’s Roger Milla scored his side’s only goal in the match.
